Sabudana Vada


Sabudana vada is a dish commonly made in India during the fasting season of NAVRATRI. Sabudana is a good source of Protein,which helps with muscle building,healing and strengthening.So vegetarian,turn to sabudana for your daily Protein intake. Sabudana is rich in iron and calcium,which helps maintain bone health. Sabudana is a healthy weight gain food. Sabudana is normally eaten in the form of khichadi,kheer or vada ,typically during fasting.
 Today i am sharing the recipe of Sabudana vada, the Sabudana is pure carbohydrate and so are potatoes used in it.The addition of Peanuts adds to the Protein content,making it more balanced meal as peanuts are considered a complete diet by themselvses.

INGREDIENTS           (1 CUP=250 ml)

  • Sadudana(tapiocal preal)-1 cup
  • Potatoes(medium sized)-4
  • Peanuts(granulated)-1/2 cup
  • Jeera powder-1 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder-1/4 teaspoon
  • Green chilli powder(finely chopped)-1 to 2
  • Corinder leaves(chopped)-2 tablespoon
  • Sendha namak(salt)-according to taste
  • Oil for frying

HOW TO MAKE SABUDANA VADA

Take 1 cup sabudana.

Wash it properly and soak for 3-4 hours in 1/2 cup of water.

Drain of all the water completely from the sabudana if have remain water.

Boil the potatoes.

Cool down it and peel.

Mash the potatoes well.

Cut coriander leaves and green chillies.

Put sabudana,mashed potatoes,jeera powder,red chilli powder,green chillies,sendha namak and coriander leaves in a Thali or bowl.

Mix it well with hand.

Add granulated sugar in it.

Mix the mixture well and take some mixture in hand and give round shape like laddu.Utilise whole mixture.

Heat oil in a kadhai.

Add a vada made from mixture.

Add  3-4 vadas at a time.Fry it on medium flame.When one side gets golden,then flip the vadas.Fry the vadas till they become golden and crispy.

Remove the sabudana vada from flame.

Eat it during fast or serve it as a snack.
