Mango Pickle (Aam ka achaar)

Punjabi pickles are world famous. If you are a pickle lover like me, you are going to love this. Here is a sore, spiced and tasty mango pickle recipe, made the traditional Punjabi way. I have learnt this recipe from my mother-in-law. Here is how to make this brilliant pickle.

INGREDIENTS


  • Medium sized raw mangoes-5-6 
  • Methi dana(fenugreek seeds-2 tablespoon
  • Yellow mustard seeds-2 tablespoon
  • Fennel seeds whole-2 tablespoon
  • Nigella seeds(kalonji)-1.5 tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder-2 tablespoon
  • Red chilli powder-1.5 tablespoon
  • Salt as required
  • Mustard oil as required

HOW TO MAKE MANGO PICKLE

Rinse and wipe dry the mangoes.

Dice the mangoes. 

Assemble all masalas. 

Mix all the spices,and salt with the diced mangoes.

Mix well so that the spices get  coated on the mangoes.

Put this spiced mango mixture in a jar and keep it in sunlight for 3-4 days.

After 3-4 days , Pour mustard oil till it just covers about the rim of the mangoes upto half inch.and mix well
Serve this mango pickle with your favourite meal as a supporting flavor..

Note: 


  • If  you want more spicy, you can add more red chili powder.
  • Store it in a dry place.
  • Do not use plastic jars for storing, the taste changes and it is unhealthy.
