The Hidden Heart Cake ( Valentine's Special)

  THE VALENTINE'S!
And what can be better than surprising your Valentine with a self made cake. And guess what? It has a Hidden Heart inside! Though i have posted many cake recipes, but this one is a really special one. This cake is pretty as well as delicious. It has flavors of both Strawberry and Chocolate. I enjoyed baking it and it has also become one of my son's favorites. Revive the wonderful feeling of love with this eggless Hidden Heart cake recipe.

INGREDIENTS

 FOR PINK HEART CAKE:

  • All Purpose flour - 1.5 cup
  • Granulated Sugar- 1 cup
  • Baking powder - 1 1/4 teaspoon
  • Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sunflower oil - 1/2 cup
  • Curd - 1/2 cup
  • Red food color - 1 teaspoon
  • Hot water - 3/4 cup
  • Vanilla essence - 1 teaspoon 
  • Cocoa powder - 1 teaspoon

FOR CHOCOLATE CAKE:

  • All purpose flour- 2 cup
  • Baking powder 1 1/4 teaspoon
  • Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Granulated sugar - 1.5 cup
  • Cocoa powder - 1/2 cup
  • Curd - 1/2 cup
  • Vegetable Oil - 1/2 cup
  • Warm coffee - ( 3/4 cup hot water + 1 teaspoon coffee)
  • Chocolate essence - 1 teaspoon

EQUIPMENT:

  • Heart - shaped cookie cutter
  • Loaf tin

PROCEDURE:

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Take Granulated sugar in a bowl.

Add sunflower oil in it.

Mix them well to incorporate with each other.

Add vanilla essence in it. Keep aside.

Take another Bowl. Whisk All purpose flour, baking powder and baking soda.

Now add cocoa powder. Now keep this one aside.

Add red food color and water in the first bowl.

Add the red color drop by drop slowly (until you get desired color) and mix it using spatula.

Now add curd

Add dry ingredients to it (2 tablespoon at a time) Mix after each addition.

Mix it on medium speed for one minute.

Mix them with spatula. Proper mixing is important for a perfect shade.

Pour the mixture into greased baking tin. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Allow to completely cool.

Take a cookie cutter. Cut as many hearts as you can with your cookie cutter.

We get these heart Shaped Cakes.

Line them up as shown.

Assemble the ingredients.

 Now for chocolate cake:

Sieve all purpose flour, baking powder and baking soda,

Add Granulated sugar

Add Cocoa powder.

Add curd to it.

Add vegetable oil.

Pour chocolate essence into the mixture. 
Add warm coffee.



Mix it for 1 minute.

Line your loaf tin with butter paper and lay a thin layer of chocolate cake mixture on the base.
Place the hearts on the chocolate batter in a straight line. Leave a slight gap at the front and back of the cake mixture.

Pour the remaining chocolate batter over them. Bake in preheated oven at 180 degrees for 35 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.

Allow to cool.

Slice your cake to reveal the perfect layers of Hidden Hearts.

The cake is ready to be served.

Serve it in the best way to surprise your beloved ones and make them feel special.
